“As it turns out, our moon’s composition is very much like our upper mantle”

    Not according to Wiki:

Nearly all lunar rocks are depleted in volatiles (such as potassium or sodium) and are completely lacking in the minerals found in Earth’s water. In Some REGARDS, lunar rocks are closely related to earth’s rocks in their composition of the element oxygen…

In CONTRAST [that means different] to the Earth, LARGE portions of the lunar crust appear to be composed of rocks with high concentrations of the mineral anorthite. The mare basalts have relatively high iron values. Furthermore, some of the mare basalts have very high levels of titanium. A NEW MINERAL found on the Moon was armalcolite. (Wiki)

    With regard to the …
With regard to the earth and moon eventually being tidally locked given more time, as you stated:

“The evolution of the lunar semimajor axis presents the WELL-KNOWN time scale PROBLEM; the lunar orbit collapses only a little over a billion years ago… We are presented with an UNRESOLVED MYSTERY. ALL THEORIES of lunar formation require that formation take place in the equator plane, yet models of tidal evolution DO NOT place the Moon there.”

    Nope

    “A somewhat …
    Nope

“A somewhat surprising outcome considering the size of the Moon and the umption that most of its heat energy had been lost… These unexpectedly high lunar values seem to indicate the Moons interior is much hotter than most thermal models had anticipated. If the temperature gradient in the lower regolith is extrapolated to great depths, the lunar interior would appear to be at least partly molten - a condition contradicted by other evidence.”

You know, I thought of that myself just after I wrote that and looked down at my dog lying at my feet asleep, just like he is now.

    The truth is, …
The truth is, little children, there is no friendly protector in the sky.

In fact, mankind has no friend in the entire cosmos.

    Its in the details. …
Its in the details. And you really have to know anatomy of different species in order to pick up the transitional markers.

The articles and programs out there will point them out for you.

    The earth-moon …
The earth-moon system is the only one that even approaches its planet-moon mass ratio. The moons of the Jovians have virtually no effect on the host planet. Mars’ moons are small even for asteroids. Pluto-Charon i believe are tidally locked, a state that if allowed the time the Earth and moon would eventually reach.

    The moon causes to …
The moon causes to the earth to bulge tidally. However, the earth rotates away from the moon so that the bulge always precedes the moons orbit. This causes a slight increased gravitational pull in the direction of the moons orbit increasing its angular momentum and elevating its orbit, this also has a reverse tug on the earths direction of rotation decreasing its angular momentum, so days get longer.

This change is measured and confirmed from a laser bounced off of the moon.

    Its pretty much …
Its pretty much established that the moon HAS completely cooled.

    Why hasnt the moon …
Why hasnt the moon totally cooled off?

    Read about it and …
Read about it and you’ll see how it is not just a plain old monkey skeleton, but in fact has many prosimian characteristics.

    Why does Uranus …
Why does Uranus spin on its side and slightly backwards?

Is it because of a giant impact?

If so, why are the orbital planes of its larger moons also tipped over?

  16. By AA32m7io1 on Jun 15, 2009

    Shouldn’t all …
Shouldn’t all planets spin in the same direction?

And shouldn’t each of the moons in the solar system all orbit their planets in the same direction?

So why do 30 moons have reverse orbits?

And why does Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune have moons orbiting in both directions?

  17. By AA32m7io1 on Jun 15, 2009

    Why does the Moon …
Why does the Moon possess 82.9% of the angular momentum of the Earth-Moon system?

And why don’t other planet-moon systems equal or exceed this amount?

    I don’t know. It …
I don’t know. It looks like a plain old monkey skeleton to me. It could be an infant monkey. Evolution doesn’t make sense to me

    “Doesnt this seem …
“Doesnt this seem to represents a time gap of about 250 million years to 1.2 billion years?”

What it represents is your god.

The god of the gaps– the one science keeps chasing away into darker and more esoteric corners.

    “It couldn’t have …
“It couldn’t have formed from the same material as Earth because its elements are too unlike those of Earth.”

This is actually incorrect. As it turns out, our moon’s composition is very much like our upper mantle. Current, and best theory today is that it was the result of a Mars sized impact. It lacks the iron core that it would have had it accreted normally, but impact simulations show that the heavy iron core would have been absorbed by the earth while the mantle material would have reformed

    “So are you …
“So are you suggesting that 99% of that sediment in the delta disappeared…”
Yuma and Blythe sit on Colorado River deposition.
All the land from Palm Springs to the gulf is deposition. It has filled the northern portion of the gulf and would have continued to do so if it were not dammed.

The sediment is there, anywhere you see Colorado water irrigated farmland for hundreds of miles. Delta’s require water, hence it isn’t much of a delta anymore.

    Yes. It represents …
Yes. It represents a time when most of the land on earth was eroded away. It shows up all over the planet. The oldest rock that appears above it is 550my. The strongest current theory is that it was formed when the earth had gone through a severe drop in temperature, called the “Snowball Earth”. Continents would have had their surfaces scraped clean by Continent wide glaciers.

Google “great unconformity” “snowball earth” together. It should be the first result

    The oldest writings …
The oldest writings known to man explain the moon’s origins the best. I urge you to research the early Mesopotamian and Sumerian texts regarding “creation” so to speak. Not necessarily Sitchin’s work in the field, but, other scholars and translators findings.

    1. The moon is …
    1. The moon is inclining in the sky. We know that from measurements from mirrors placed on the moon. It was not always so far away.

    2. That is pure speculation on your part. Give me some facts on that.

    3. The moon have its own gravitation. Also, it moves in an orbit around the sun with the earth. It is a lot of particles floating around in the plane. We see it when comets fly into the system.

    4. A lot has been blown off it from impacts. But its not so little dust on it. Again prove it.

    Ice boring is not …
Ice boring is not equivalent to moon dust. As the snow falls on Greenland, is sets a small layer which is freezes to a small crust as the sun melts and night freezes it again. You can read that layer after seasons and years of different weather patterns form. It builds up layer after layer. When we drill down into the ice sheaths on Greenland. We can read back 100.000 years at the very least. And if we put a marker down on the ground. We see the snow layers build up on to of it year after year.
